2019 Acura RDX is a Smash Hit in Its First Month
We knew we had a hit on our hands when we saw the redesigned 2019 Acura RDX. That was all just guesswork then, but now it is certifiable, as the RDX’s first month on Acura showrooms was a record-breaking one. Keep reading to find out why.
The RDX’s first month’s sales numbers are in, and buyers gobbled up 7,292 examples of the 2019 Acura RDX between June 1 and 30, marking a 36.9 percent year-over-year growth. That shatters the previous one-month Acura SUV sales record of 6,761 MDX units in 2014. This also makes the 2019 RDX the highest-selling Acura model in a month since the Acura TL in 2006.
Besides leading all of Acura in June, the 2019 RDX’s 7,292 units sold in June made it the best-selling compact luxury SUV in the country and one of the best-selling luxury vehicles. These massive sales fueled all Acura light-truck sales to a 16.9 percent jump to 11,185 units.
The 2019 Acura RDX rolled in with an all-new look that wasn’t a huge change from the previous model year. The 2019 RDX also boasts an all-new powertrain that includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that injects 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. This power routes through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Beyond its new look and powertrain, the 2019 RDX has premium features and tech. These include Acura’s True Touchpad Interface, an ultra-wide panoramic moonroof, Acura ELS Studio 3D premium audio. Buyers can also add sport seats with 16-way power adjustments.
