Fourth Year in a Row Acura MDX Earns TOP SAFETY PICK+ Rating from IIHS
The 2017 Acura MDX earned TOP SAFETY PICK+, the most coveted and prestigious moniker from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This is the fourth consecutive year the MDX achieved this honor and Acura earned a total of two TOP SAFETY PICK+ and two TOP SAFETY PICK ratings for 2017, making Acura a top leader in safety ratings in the automotive industry.
It’s estimated that the new standard equipment on all 2017 MDX models is what set them apart from the competition. The AcuraWatch™ suite of active safety and driver-assistive tech includes Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist System and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow.
Next year Acura will add Traffic Jam Assist to the AcuraWatch suite in certain models with the hopes of securing TOP SAFETY PICK+ for the fifth year in a row. All new Acura models come with a multi-angle rearview camera as standard equipment. Additional standard safety equipment on all models include Advance Compatibility Engineering™ body structure; Vehicle Stability Assist™ with traction control; Anti-lock Braking System; side curtain airbags (some vehicles equipped with a rollover sensor as well); advanced front airbags; and front side airbags.
